Eleven University of Iowa students — all Iowa natives — have been selected from more than 10,000 applicants nationwide to receive Fulbright U.S. Student Program awards for the 2026–27 academic year.

International students at the University of Iowa were recognized for their impact on campus during an annual celebration that brought together students, faculty, and staff.

Monica Correia, professor of 3D design and collegiate scholar in the University of Iowa School of Art, Art History, and Design, has received a Fulbright Scholar Award to France. Her project will be conducted at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Textiles (ENSAIT) GEMTEX Laboratory in Roubaix, part of the University of Lille.

Emma Anderson (BA international relations and political science ’25) has received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) award to Tajikistan for the 2026–27 academic year.

Kate Struble (BA journalism and mass communication, ethics and public policy ’22) has received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award (ETA) to Bulgaria for the 2026–27 academic year.

Lucia Rongerude (BA linguistics and Spanish ’26) is the recipient of a 2026–27 Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Award to Colombia.

Klaertje Hesselink (BS biochemical engineering ’26) has received a Fulbright Study/Research grant to Germany for the 2026–27 academic year.

Marta Leira (BS psychology ’25) has received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to Portugal for the 2026–27 academic year.

14 University of Iowa undergraduate students are able to intern abroad thanks to support from the Freeman Foundation Asian Internships Scholarship.
