Planting Hope: The Anne Frank Tree Arrives in Iowa

On April 29, 2022, the thirteenth Anne Frank Tree will be planted on the northeast corner of the University of Iowa’s Pentacrest. Its arrival is due to the work of Frank scholar and UI German Department faculty member Dr. Kirsten Kumpf Baele.

Dr. Jewell Winn is the eighth speaker in the Commitment to Internationalization lecture series, continuing our conversation about the UI's vision and strategic themes for campus internationalization. Her talk, "Where I Come From: Leading Campus Internationalization Without Walls," will be on November 18, 2021, at 2:30 p.m., in room 1117 of the University Capitol Centre. This lecture will also be made available via Zoom.

I have now been in Ecuador for two weeks. In this time, I have already experienced so many wonderful things, including meeting local friends, and admiring the art, culture, and landscape of Ecuador. Between our courses, excursions, and budding relationships with locals, we are constantly on-the-go. You soon realize how fleeting the days are here and want to make the most of every single one, which, when you think about it, is a good way to live life.
