ESG lecture explores the past through modern art, Feb.24

The European Studies Group will present a guest lecture by Professor Jenny Anger of Grinnell College on "The Exhibition of Modern Art in Berlin (1913): Using 3D Simulation to Explore the Past" at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 24 in 315 Phillips Hall.  The event is free and open to the public.

It isn’t being taught how to study that’s important, it’s being directed to understand why. This is a virtue that goes undiscovered by many, but it’s apparent in University of Iowa international student Hyun Jin Ko of South Korea. Ko describes the many virtues of her parents and they are quite impressive. Ko’s father, Jeongsik Ko, is a professor at Pai Chai University in South Korea and a former visiting research scientist at the University of Iowa. Her mother, Soon Dohkgoh, is a senior research engineer for the Korean Institute of Defense Analysis (KIDA).

If being an amateur, poet, singer, songwriter, actress, writer, and human has taught me anything, it’s that we must all go through this stage on our path to greatness. Or, in my case, heightened mediocrity.
