International Programs is honored to present the award for this year’s International Parents of the Year to Mohammad Sayeed Hossain and Nasrina Parvin. Mr. Hossain and Mrs. Parvin were nominated by their son, Rezwan Mohammad Sayeed, a PhD candidate in the College of Engineering, from Dhaka, Bangladesh, for being strong advocates for equal rights movements and supporting Rezwan’s educational journey.  

We congratulate this year's winners of the international parents of the year, Ebtesam Fouad Yanny Gerges and Shehata Fouad Georgy Nakhla.

International Student and Scholar Services received so many excellent nominations for the International Parents of the Year award, it became difficult to choose only one recipient. This year, we are pleased to announce two recipients.

This year International Student and Scholar Services received so many excellent nominations for International Parents of the Year, it became difficult to choose one recipient.  So we chose two, and are very happy to announce both.

International Student and Scholar Services is happy to announce the recipients of the 2017 International Parents of the Year award, Meenu and Suresh Mittal of India.  The Mittals were nominated by their son, Sanjay, who previously received his Master of Business Administration with distinction in 2015 and is now a graduate student in the Master of Accountancy program in the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa.

International Student and Scholar Services is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2016 International Parents of the Year award: Dr. Khalid Joudi and Dr. Maysoon Yasin. They are the parents of recent University of Iowa grad Dr. Kawther Khalid Ahmed, who just received her Ph.D. in pharmaceutics in August. Dr. Ahmed is now a post-doctoral scholar here at the University of Iowa while her husband, Ali Al-Jumaili, finishes his own program. They have two daughters and a little boy here with them in Iowa City.
