International Programs provides funding opportunities and grant-writing assistance for UI faculty engaged in international research, partnerships, and other activities, and is invested in the success that faculty have in their field.

To honor international graduates from fall 2023, spring 2024, and summer 2024, the University of Iowa (UI) held the 2024 International Student Graduation Celebration on Wednesday, May 8, in the International Ballroom at the Iowa Memorial Union. Over 170 people attended the event, which was hosted by Nandita Nair, a graduate student in mathematics, and Nico Sheck, a graduate student in education.

"As an international student, I've received incredible support and resources from the university. From language assistance to cultural adaptation programs, the university has gone above and beyond to ensure my success."

With support from the Stanley-UI Foundation Support Organization, the Global Access Ambassador Scholarship program provides up to 10 $1,000 scholarships for the spring and fall semesters or academic year, and up to 10 scholarships for the summer and winter sessions. 

Claire Breger-Belsky, who received an MFA in literary translation from the University of Iowa in May 2023, is the winner of a Fulbright Study/Research Grant in translation to Argentina for 2024-25.

"In Australia, I learned that when chasing after your goals, whether they’re professional or personal, it’s equally as important to take time for yourself and practice self-compassion. I gained a new perspective on life and priorities through experiencing life in a new country."

Lyu has served as the International Student and Scholar (ISSS) peer assistant for the last two years.
