UI research associate helps strengthen speech-language services through Kosovo partnership

University of Iowa Research Associate Charlotte Hilker led graduate students and faculty on a project in Kosovo to expand access to speech, language, and hearing services. Supported by a UI International Travel Award, the team partnered with local organizations to conduct screenings, provide training, and support early intervention efforts for communication disorders while giving students hands-on international clinical experience.

The 2026 Provost’s Global Forum at the University of Iowa will explore how film and television build connections across cultures, religions, and generations. Through screenings, panels, and conversations with international scholars, the symposium examines storytelling in global Jewish cinema and cross-cultural narratives. The three-day event will take place April 21–23 at the Senate Chambers of the Old Capitol Museum in Iowa City.

Virtual lecture explores disability, reproductive technologies, and nuclear exposure in India

The University of Iowa will host a virtual lecture on April 21, examining disability, reproductive technologies, and nuclear exposure in India. Dr. Misria Shaik Ali will analyze how uranium mining and medical practices shape experiences of disability and reproductive health. The free event is sponsored by the South Asian Studies Program.
