Jennifer Cano (BA English, English education ‘23) is the winner of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to Spain for 2025-26. 

Delaney Orewiler (BS psychology, French ‘24) is the winner of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to Morocco for 2025-26.

Marissa Good (BS political science, sociology, and ethics & public policy ‘23) is the winner of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to Belgium for 2025-26.

Malvika Khadiya, a UI political science student from Cedar Falls, Iowa, has been awarded a 2025 U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study in Latvia this summer at Dauzgavpils University for an intensive Russian language program.

Mairen Thompson, a University of Iowa graduate student studying world language education, from Tipton, Iowa, has been awarded a 2025 U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study in Japan this summer at Okayama University for an intensive Japanese language program.

What began as an opportunity to study dance in Latvia for a year has evolved into an ongoing international platform for Iowa alumna Alyssa Gersony — one that is expanding the real-life impact of dance for individuals who are blind and visually impaired.
