In what ways are you involved with international education?

I am deeply involved in international education through various roles, including serving as the president of the International Student Advisory Board, where I advocate for international students' needs and facilitate the gap between international students and university communication. Additionally, as a mentor in the iPeer Mentorship Program, I support new international students in their academic and personal journeys, helping them navigate their transition to the university. I am also working as an international student orientation leader, guiding new international students through their transition to the university by familiarizing them with essential resources and services during orientation week.

What are some other campus or community involvement activities you’ve been a part of?

My involvement extends to being an international student ambassador, where I promote the University of Iowa to prospective international students, and I served as a student lead with International Student Support & Engagement by organizing events based on the needs of international students, ensuring they have opportunities to connect and engage. I have also participated in the University Counseling Services Student Advisory Board and the Pentacrest Museum Student Advisory Board, focusing on mental health initiatives and events for international students.

What is the most valuable thing you have learned through your international education experiences?

The most valuable lesson I have learned through my international education experiences is the importance of adaptability and intercultural communication. Navigating a new cultural background has enhanced my ability to connect with diverse individuals, value different perspectives, and find solutions to challenges. These skills are important not only for academic success but also for building meaningful relationships in an increasingly interconnected world.

Please share a message with your fellow classmates about the importance of international education.

Our international education journey is a transformative experience that shapes us into global citizens. By gaining this chance, we may expand our knowledge of different cultures and viewpoints, which will increase our adaptability and resilience. By collaborating with fellow students from different cultures, we grow a richer learning environment that celebrates diversity and encourages innovation. I encourage you to take advantage of every chance to engage with different cultures, as these experiences will enrich your academic journey and prepare you for success in a globalized world. Let’s continue to learn from one another and apply our unique experiences to create positive change together.

What are your future academic or career goals?

I will continue my education by pursuing a master's degree in fall 2025, followed by a PhD, as I aim to become a professor while working in research. In addition to my academic journey, I plan to get an internship during summer 2025, to gain valuable experience in the industry that is related to my field of study.
