This year marks the tenth year of exchanges between the University of Iowa and China Daily, China's largest English-language newspaper. In honor of this long-standing collaboration, International Programs and the School of Journalism and Mass Communication will hold a tenth anniversary celebration on Friday, April 24 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in the Adler Journalism Building rotunda.

This event is free and open to the public and will include guest remarks by Editor-in-Chief of China Daily Wensha Li, University of Iowa Provost Barry Butler, and UI journalism professor Judy Polumbaum.

Since its inauguration, fruitful exchanges have taken place between the UI and China Daily each year with a senior journalist or editor from China Daily teaching a short course entitled "News and Knowledge: Chinese Culture in the Era of Globalization" at the University of Iowa in late spring semester. In exchange, a journalist student from University of Iowa is provided an internship opportunity to work at China Daily in Beijing for a summer or a year.

Event sponsors include the UI Center for Asian and Pacific Studies, International Programs, and School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Dongwang Liu in advance at dongwang-liu@uiowa.edu.
