The UI awarded dozens of merit-based scholarships for students studying abroad during the 2024–2025 academic year, supporting programs in countries like South Korea, Spain, Italy, and more. These scholarships promote global learning and help students build intercultural and language skills.

Eighteen recipients will represent the U.S. Department of State in countries around the world — teaching English, pursuing graduate studies, serving in community organizations, and conducting research.

The Anne Frank Initiative and Clear Creek Amana Middle School collaborated for the third year in a row to teach 200+ eighth graders about Anne Frank's story through virtual reality, writing and identity, resistance, the power of reading, and visiting the Anne Frank sapling on the Pentacrest.

Dr. Azeez Butali, professor of oral pathology, radiology, and medicine in the UI College of Dentistry, has been awarded a Fulbright to further his groundbreaking work in human genetics.

Isabel Rushton (BA global health studies ’24) is the winner of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to Slovakia for 2025-26. Rushton is the first UI recipient of a Fulbright to Slovakia.
