Join UI Professor Mo Haskins and Study Abroad Advisor Cory Petersen to learn about a virtual abroad program, Women's Empowerment in the Dominican Republic, that will discuss course content, scholarships, funding, and the application process about this unique international experience.

Course Description: This multidisciplinary elective virtual course is designed to prepare students to understand and address the complex issues associated with women’s empowerment, dealing with cross-culture issues, and working with marginalized and at-risk young women. Students will engage with non-profit organizations, virtually visit local government offices, and explore the geographic and sociocultural context. Students will be exposed to the most respected organizations serving women throughout the Dominican Republic.

Dates: May 18, 2021 to June 8, 2021

Prerequisites: None
