Study Abroad, part of International Programs, will host an information session on its India Winterim program, on Wednesday, September 6 at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday, September 7 at 2:00 p.m. in 1117 University Capitol Centre.
Learn about the UI's awarding-winning India Winterim program, a three-week, faculty-led study abroad program that allows students to learn from social entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions at one of several sites throughout India. Topics to be discussed include an overview of the program’s 2017-18 courses, costs, financial aid and scholarships, and the application process!
India Winterim is a field-based program which partners with Indian non-profits that address the most pressing contemporary societal issues. Students explore topics such as art and architecture, biodiversity, sustainability, education, entrepreneurship, housing, performing arts, healthcare, journalism, renewable energy, social work, and water resources. Over the last ten years, the program has grown from one course with two faculty members and 17 students to one that encompasses numerous courses in different disciplines, enrolling an average of 100 students per year in multiple small sections and engaging dozens of UI faculty members. Using the winter term provides opportunities to study abroad not previously available to students in engineering and health science fields.
