Do you want to learn more about traditional Japanese culture? Join the University of Iowa Japanese Program for a Japanese culture festival (文化祭 bunkasai) on Friday, November 1, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Iowa City Public Library. This event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome.

Exhibits will include origami, calligraphy, chopstick race, yukata fitting, onigiri stand, kendama, matcha green tea tasting, a jazz performance, and a Japanese talent show performed by students.

6 - 6:30 p.m.  - JAZZ PERFORMANCE by Masa Ishikawa with Jacob Pembelton and Gianauna Neville
Jazz pianist/composer Masa Ishikawa will present two original compositions, one inspired by Mahayana Buddhism, and another commemorating the victims of the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami

6:30 - 7:30 p.m.  - STUDENT PERFORMANCE
Japanese martial arts, songs, and dance
