Please join us for an informal essay workshop on Wednesday, November 4, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. in 1117 University Capitol Centre. The workshop is open to any student interested in applying for the Critical Language Scholarship.

Associate Director of International Fellowships Karen Wachsmuth will provide sample essays and give constructive feedback to students who would like to share their current drafts.

The Critical Language Scholarship Program provides fully-funded group-based intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment activities overseas each summer for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students. The CLS Program is part of a U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages. Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply.

Participants are expected to continue their language study beyond the scholarship period, and later apply their critical language skills in their future professional careers.

The 2016 CLS application deadline is November 23, 2015. Click here to see the flyer.  For more information, please contact Karen Wachsmuth at karen-wachsmuth@uiowa.edu
