Bridging Scholarships for Study in Japan

As posted on the aatj.org website:

"The coronavirus epidemic and the continuing suspension of travel to Japan has led to the cancellation of almost all study abroad programs in Japan for the remainder of 2020. Our scholarship program is suspended for the time being. We are hopeful that we can resume the program for Spring 2021, but a decision will not be made until mid-September at the earliest. We will update information here as soon as we are able to do so."

The Bridging Project offers scholarships to American undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan. Funding from private foundations and major U.S. corporations, through donations to the nonprofit US-Japan Bridging Foundation, makes it possible to award about 100 scholarships each year to assist students with the travel and living expenses they will incur while studying abroad in Japan for a semester or an academic year. Applications are accepted twice each year for Bridging Scholarships.

Amount Awarded (semester): $2,500

Amount Awarded (academic year): $4,000

Submission Deadline for Spring 2021 programs: TBA (application not available yet)

See website for additional details and updated submission guidelines.
