Adrien Wing
Dean Adrien Wing

In the post-COVID world, there is a continuing and growing need to make sure American students going abroad include people of color, those from poorer backgrounds, and all genders. Similarly, diversity is needed at the other end as well in terms of the variety of people that our students encounter when abroad.

Adrien Wing, associate dean for International and Comparative Law Programs and the Bessie Dutton Murray Professor in the University of Iowa College of Law, will explore this topic as part of International Programs’ annual Commitment to Internationalization Lecture Series

"The Commitment to Internationalization Lecture Series is important because of the wide variety of perspectives it gives on world events,” said Russ Ganim, associate provost and dean of International Programs. “Dean Adrien Wing’s expertise on international law as it relates to questions of race, gender, ethnicity, and sexual orientation provides powerful commentary on social and legal justice in today’s global environment."

Wing is the 10th speaker in the Commitment to Internationalization Lecture Series, continuing our conversation about Iowa’s vision and strategic themes for campus internationalization. Her talk, "Demarginalizing Race, Class, and Gender in International Education in the Post-COVID World," will take place on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. (CDT), in the International Commons, room 1117 of the University Capitol Centre.
