Sign to promote the University of Iowa passport office

International Programs (IP) is proud to announce the opening of a passport office to serve the University of Iowa community and the general public. Conveniently located in 1111 University Capitol Centre, the University of Iowa Passport Office will open its doors on Monday, November 1.

"We appreciate that we have been approved by the  U.S. Department of State to open the UI Passport Acceptance Facility. We have a great team of IP staff who have completed extensive training and are ready to go. We look forward to serving UI faculty, staff, and students and the surrounding community," said Doug Lee, assistant provost of International Programs.

Reflecting on the significance of a passport office on campus, Russ Ganim, associate provost and dean of International Programs, commented, “The opening of a U.S. Passport Acceptance Facility on the UI campus demonstrates Iowa’s commitment to international education and Iowa’s openness to the world. The passport office is a resource open not just to the university, but to the community at large. In this day and age, a passport is just as important as a driver’s license. Our goal is to help Iowans learn about the world by giving them the tools to explore it.”

The UI Passport Office processes new U.S. passport applications and child/minor renewal applications. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. by appointment only. Appointments may be scheduled by calling (319) 353-2700.
