Randy Paulson,

IOWA CITY—A 2016 Rock Valley High School graduate is making waves at the University of Iowa.

Anibal Mares Marquez recently organized a panel discussion at the Iowa City-based university aimed at encouraging other students from underrepresented backgrounds to study abroad during their college career.

The senior accounting major facilitated the event, which took place Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the John Pappajohn Business building and attracted an audience of about 20 students.

The five panelists were other students at the college representing different social and ethnic backgrounds and academic majors who had studied abroad in different countries.
