Critical Language Scholarship winner Sean Hagan to study Russian in Kyrgyzstan

Sean Hagan, a University of Iowa student from Coralville, Iowa, who will earn a BA in Russian and international relations this May, has been awarded a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study Russian this summer in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Creating communities that care: International panel highlights global approaches to population health

Friday, February 27, 2026
Researchers from Japan will visit the University of Iowa for a public panel exploring how community-based research improves population health. Hosted by International Programs and the University of Iowa College of Public Health, the event highlights global approaches to suicide prevention, addiction treatment access, and cognitive health for older adults. The session brings together international scholars to share research and discuss how community partnerships can strengthen health outcomes locally and globally.
