The University of Iowa

East Asia, Southeast Asia and Pacific Region Scholarship

As student travel over the summer would not be possible this year, CAPS will accept applications from students who intend to attend domestic in-person Asia-related programs (if that happens/is permissible) or online summer Asia-related programs in the US or Asia.

Application

Please complete the online application.  Be sure to have the following application items prepared ahead of time as you cannot save the application and return to it later:

  • List of expenses of your study abroad program
  • List of scholarships or financial aid you have already secured for your study abroad program
  • Total amount of funding needed for your study abroad program
  • A personal statement that indicates your purpose and goal of your study abroad plan and how the scholarship will benefit your program of study (400-500 words)
  • To pay for or reimburse students for tuition to other schools, domestic or international, the school must be eligible for Title IV federal aid
  • The school must be within a current Consortium Agreement
  • Students must be registered for 6 hours minimum during the summer
  • If the school is not eligible for Title IV funding, the applicant will be required to work with the U.S. Department of Education to obtain that status. That would most likely take a long time. This is not something with which the UI would assist. Most accredited schools in the US are eligible.

Application Deadline

The application deadline is October 15 for Spring and March 31 for Summer and Fall respectively.
