WorldCanvass launched the 2023 Provost’s Global Forum titled Festival of Contemporary Music from Israel with an intimate evening of music and conversation featuring the Meitar Ensemble and conductor Pierre-André Valade.

The internationally renowned Israeli ensemble was in residence at the UI School of Music from April 17 - 23 presented nine public concerts during that period, as well as a number of seminars and workshops with UI music students and faculty.

WorldCanvass was a blend of live musical performance and contextual conversation with Meitar Ensemble members about the pieces to be performed during the festival and, more generally, about the contemporary music scene in Israel. The week-long festival featuring music by living Israeli composers was hosted by the UI Center for New Music, with support from UI International Programs and UI School of Music.

Location: Voxman Recital Hall at the UI School of Music, 93 E. Burlington Street, Iowa City, Iowa 52240
