The UI South Asian Studies Program (SASP) will host an upcoming lecture featuring artist and art historian, Seema Srivastava. This event is free and open to the public, and will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2016, in room 116 of Art Building West.
Seema Srivastava is an art historian, cultural theorist, teacher, and a designer. She has been passionately involved with the world of art for more than two decades. Qualified with a B.F.A. from the University of Delhi, an M.A. (history of art) from the National Museum Institute, New Delhi, and an M.Phil.(indian arts, crafts and aesthetics) from Jawaharlal Nehru University, she has a professional experience of 24 years. She has taught art in the College of Art, University of Delhi, and the National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology as well as at other premier design institutes.
Srivastava has presented a range of academic papers and lectures on diverse aspects of the arts. She also conducts heritage walks, museum visits, and craft experiences in and around Delhi for art and culture enthusiasts. She teaches the art history portion of the "Art, Activism, and Architecture-" course at the UI India Winterim Program. At the event, she will speak about the art and architecture of India.
