Study Abroad Outreach Assistant to receive 2016 Dean's Achievement Award

UI senior Caitlyn Kavan is a go-getter. Since the beginning of her time at the University of Iowa, she’s been an advocate for refugees, a student athlete, a member of seven multicultural student organizations, and an on-campus facilitator for discussions about breaking racial stereotypes. She can be found here at the International Programs office where she works as an outreach assistant, helping students find the study abroad destination of their dreams.

Global Education Institute for Teachers held on December 5-6

On December 5-6, International Programs hosted the Global Education Institute for Teachers in partnership with the Stanley Foundation. The annual professional development workshop is offered to Iowa's K-12 teachers, with an aim of increasing educators’ awareness of and capacity to teach concepts and skills necessary for developing globally-minded students.

After coming to the university, many international students are encouraged by local Christians to participate in activities and events with them.
