Hans de Wit is the sixth speaker in the Commitment to Internationalization lecture series. His talk, "Internationalization of Higher Education for Society, Moving Back from Competition to Co-operation," will be on November 7, 2019, from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. in room 1117 of the University Capitol Centre. With over 40 tables of information presented, the fair can be overwhelming. This event will walk undergraduates through some basic information about study abroad and help students understand how the fair is set up and what they can expect.

Join us on Thursday, September 19, for “Art and the Face of War: Goya and Tolstoy,” the first program in the new season of WorldCanvass. While Spanish painter and printmaker Francisco de Goya and Russian writer Leo Tolstoy were separated by time and space, the two created incomparable masterworks centered on the tragic events of the more than decade-long Napoleonic Wars. We’ll view that momentous period of human struggle and suffering through Goya’s shocking collection of prints called “Disasters of War” and Tolstoy’s novel “War and Peace,” exploring not only the original works but also later interpretations through film and opera. International Programs will host information sessions regarding the Stanley Awards for International Research. The Stanley Undergraduate and Graduate Awards for International Research are given annually to outstanding University of Iowa students for the pursuit of learning activities in international studies and international research/fieldwork.

Ten years ago this fall, Wenran Xie (13BBA) arrived in Iowa City as a first-year student, uncertain of what the future would hold. A native of China, Xie was on her own for the first time in a new city and new country. But soon she found a new home: the UI Tippie College of Business.
