Funding Your Study Abroad Experience

Cost is a factor all students should consider when selecting a program—or deciding whether or not to study abroad. Costs vary considerably by program, as does what is included in the program fee and what isn't. For each UI study abroad program, the Study Abroad office produces a Cost Sheet which add up all anticipated expenses, including air fare and personal spending money. Cost Sheets can be found on the Application tab of each program page.

Most financial aid (scholarships, grants, and loans) is applicable to study abroad programs. You are encouraged to speak with someone at the Office of Student Financial Aid to further explore financial aid options. Scholarships are available through the University of Iowa, many of our preferred program providers, and some external institutions. Annually, UI provides more than $500,000 in funds for study abroad. This site is your connection to all these awards; you're encouraged to apply for all the awards you're eligible for!
