tree with orange leaves in front of university building

Dear All,

The beginning of the academic year always provides a sense of renewal, but the start of this fall semester marks a special kind of resilience given the obstacles we have faced the last eight months. We extend an especially warm welcome to our new and returning international students, for whom these challenges have been particularly difficult. Please know that we will always remain staunch allies of our international students.

The start of a new year means that there is much to look forward to. In addition to reconnecting with our international community on campus, we have many activities planned to engage students on study abroad opportunities. International Programs will also sponsor numerous cultural events and symposia. Of note is the interdisciplinary webinar to be held later this month entitled, “Pandemic, State, and Society,” sponsored by the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies, International Programs, the Iowa Global Health Network and the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies.

Our patterns and modes of communication may have changed (IP will operate electronically this fall) but our work continues, and remains as exciting as it ever was. We enthusiastically thank our friends, alumni, and donors for their support and are eager to engage with you over the coming year.

With all best wishes for 2020-2021,
