The following page is intended to help University of Iowa faculty and staff identify potential resources to help facilitate global health research. If you know of a resource that is available that is not currently listed, please email ip-ighn@uiowa.eduto let us know.

On- Campus Resources

  • Division of Sponsored Programs (DSP): DSP provides a variety of services and support related to external funding for research and training for faculty from across campus. All activities related to external research funding, including applications, should be routed through DSP to ensure institutional compliance with the granting organization.
  • Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR): OVPR is tasked with supporting all activities related to research for university colleges and departments. OVPR offers a number of professional development opportunities relating to research, as well as assistance with locating funding.
  • Institutional Review Boards (IRB): IRB is responsible for reviewing and approving all human subjects testing for ethical compliance. They offer trainings throughout the year on how to use their database system and ensure continued compliance for all your research.

Institutional Memberships and Partnerships

  • Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH): The University of Iowa is a founding member of CUGH and continues to be an institutional member. As a faculty or staff member at Iowa, you can partake in the benefits available to individuals at member institutions, including lower cost of conference attendance and joining the CUGH listserv.
  • Heartland Global Health Consortium (HGHC): HGHC is an Iowa-based global health organization made up of universities and colleges from across the state of Iowa. HGHC holds an annual conference each year in Des Moines in which many of our faculty and students continue to participate.
