Literary translation is not so black-and-white. What makes or breaks a quality translation? These essays explore personal experiences with literary translation, and the challenging task of changing or muting unique cultural expressions to fit a broader audience.

The IWP Friday Panel Discussion series provides an opportunity for the residents of Iowa City to meet and converse with writers from around the world who are the Fall 2025 Writers in Residence at the University of Iowa International Writing Program.

The series is sponsored by The UI International Writing Program and The Iowa City Public Library.

This event is live and in-person, and will be streamed live on the ICPL YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/thelibrarychannel
