Research/Teaching: I'll be doing research for a historical novel set in the Philippines in the early twentieth century.

What drew you to this field of study? I've always been interested in the lesser-known chapters of American history, especially our complicated legacy abroad.

How do you envision this will change your life? It will introduce me to a new community of writers and scholars, and a whole new world of stories. That's what I'm most excited about in addition to doing my research: meeting Filipino writers and learning about their projects. 

What advice do you have for future students interested in pursuing a Fulbright award? Start early and take advantage of the great resources available to you!
