Chosen from thousands of applicants from colleges and universities across the U.S., twelve University of Iowa undergraduates were awarded the competitive Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Megan Lederman, who received a BA with a double major in English and creative writing (emphasis in Native American literature) and French from the University of Iowa in May 2019, is the winner of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Award to Vietnam for 2022-23.

Anna Correa, who will receive a Master of Public Health in community and behavior health from the University of Iowa in May 2022, is the winner of a Fulbright Study/Research grant in Public Health to India for 2022-23.

Holly Harris, who received a BA in international studies and Portuguese with a minor in Spanish from the University of Iowa in fall 2021, is the winner of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Award to Brazil for 2022-23.

Hannah Haack, who received a BA in history with a minor in German from the University of Iowa in May 2021, is the winner of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Award to Germany for 2022-23.

Isabelle Davis, who will receive a BA in international studies from the University of Iowa in May 2022, is the winner of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Award to Turkey for 2022-23

Sarah Nunez, who will receive a BA in social work from the University of Iowa in May 2022, is the winner of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Award to Mexico for 2022-23

International studies and Chinese major Marissa Schooley of Allerton, Iowa, has been awarded a 2022 U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study Mandarin this summer.
