What is something exciting about your program that you'd want others to know about?

One of the most exciting aspects of our program is how accessible it is to travel around Europe during your time abroad; you have the opportunity to explore different countries and cultures. The CIMBA program also provides convenient shuttle services, making it incredibly easy to immerse yourself in various European experiences and make the most of your time abroad.

What is a memory that will stick with you for the rest of your life?

A memory that will stick with me for the rest of my life is being able to visit St. Peters Basilica in Rome. Standing in such a historic and artistically significant place was breathtaking. The beauty of the basilica left a lasting impression on me, making it an unforgettable highlight of my time abroad.

What was something that made you feel like you were a local/that you belonged?

One experience that truly made me feel like a local during my time abroad was participating in the vibrant local street life. Watching street performances and dancing alongside locals in the streets gave me a sense of belonging. I was able to see firsthand the kindness and energy of the people, especially in Lake Como, where the atmosphere was particularly welcoming and lively.

How did studying abroad change you for the better?

Studying abroad changed me for the better by allowing me to truly immerse myself in different cultures, rather than just learning about them in a classroom. Experiencing these cultures firsthand gave me a deeper understanding and appreciation of the world, broadening my perspective and making me more adaptable and open-minded.

How was your identity impacted by your experience abroad? And for other students with a similar identity, what advice would you give to them?

My identity was significantly impacted by my experience abroad as it allowed me to truly immerse myself in a different culture for the first time. Having never traveled overseas before, staying for a month helped me understand the locals, their culture, and their lifestyles on a deeper level. The opportunity to travel and experience multiple cultures further enriched my perspective.

For other students with a similar background, my advice is to embrace the experience fully. Take every opportunity to engage with the local culture and people. Don’t hesitate to step out of your comfort zone, you’ll gain invaluable insights and memories that will last a lifetime.

How do you think your study abroad experience will impact your major/career/life choices?

My study abroad experience will significantly impact my major career choices, especially as I am pursuing a certificate in international marketing. By attending classes and visiting major cities such as Rome and Lake Como, I gained firsthand experience with international marketing strategies employed by American companies. This exposure has not only enhanced my understanding of global marketing practices but also inspired me to pursue a career with an international focus, shaping my future career and life choices.

If I hadn't gone abroad, I would have never...

If I had not gone abroad, I would never have been able to experience firsthand the international marketing strategies employed by American companies before graduating. This opportunity has profoundly impacted my career trajectory, and I am immensely grateful for it. Living and learning in a different culture has provided me with invaluable insights and practical knowledge that will be crucial as I pursue my certificate in International Marketing. Now, if I am ever sent to work in another country, I can confidently say I have lived and understood its culture firsthand.
