Students who are eligible for financial assistance, as evidenced on the UI Award Letter, and are interested in a study abroad program are encouraged to apply for a Need-based Grant. These grants, based on financial need and program selection, range from $250 - $2,000. For more information on courses, internships, etc. consult with your Study Abroad advisor.

Spring Semester 2025

Award Criteria

  • Grants are awarded based on the applicant's relative need, as shown on the UI Award Summary
  • US citizens and US permanent residents (with completed FAFSA and UI Award Letter)
  • Undergraduate, enrollment as a full-time degree-seeking student at the University of Iowa
  • Good academic standing
  • Current academic year FAFSA must be completed and processed by the UI Office for Student Financial Aid
  • Registration in an academic credit-earning approved Study Abroad course (ABRD or INTL) prior to the release of the award

Application

Submit the completed and signed application to Teresa Kout; notification will be sent within 2 - 4 weeks of submission.
