Overview
The Stuart A. Lundquist Memorial Fund Scholarship is in memory of Stuart A. Lundquist, a University of Iowa graduate (BA French, English '93) (MA French '97). He studied abroad in Aragon, France, while at UI, then moved to Rennes, France, to teach at the Université de Rennes for three years before returning to the United States.
This competitive, merit-based scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student who is majoring in French (first preference) or English (second preference) and studying abroad in France for at least one semester. In addition to the merit component, successful applicants should also show demonstrated financial need.
In honor of Stuart A. Lundquist's high school alma mater, preference will be shown to a student who graduated from Rockford Auburn High School in Rockford, Illinois (primary) or Illinois (secondary).
One (1) $1,000 Stuart A. Lundquist Memorial Fund Scholarship will be awarded for a semester-length or academic year program. This scholarship is not renewable.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicant must:
- be an undergraduate, full-time, degree-seeking UI student, in good academic standing, declared French major
- have a minimum 3.5 UI cumulative GPA as reported on your unofficial UI grade report
- demonstrated financial need as per UI Award Letter
- have completed at least 12 semester hours by the application deadline
- plan to study in France
