By collaborating with international institutions, supporting student-led initiatives, and launching innovative programs for doctors from developing nations, UI's Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is enhancing eye care access and quality for underserved populations worldwide, including in its own backyard.

The scholarship is intended to support students who study abroad with the intent to serve as Global Access Ambassadors upon their return to the UI campus

International Programs is proud to announce Zbigniew and Dorota Brzus of Bodaczów, Poland, as the 2024 International Parents of the Year. They are being recognized for their extraordinary journey from a small village in communist Poland to becoming successful entrepreneurs and pillars of their community while supporting their son Michal’s dreams of studying and swimming at Iowa.
