Snider is the director of global public relations at Stratasys, the largest 3D printing company in the market. He will share insights from his experience on how Hawkeyes can be successful in an international work environment. This involves lessons he’s learned about personally navigating different cultures and business environments and finding ways to lead diverse teams in collaboration toward a common mission. As a manager, he’ll share his thoughts about the path to an international business career.

“Erik's expertise in communications and marketing stands as testament to the excellent education he received at Iowa,” commented Russ Ganim, associate provost and dean of International Programs. “His continued support of Iowa shines as an example for all Global Hawkeyes.”

Snider, who currently resides in Israel, credits much of his success to his University of Iowa beginnings, having received his BA and MA at Iowa. He also worked as an administrator in the (then) Iowa Women’s Athletic Department early on in his career. Snider’s Iowa roots run deep with family from Webster County, where he used to spend summers working on the family farm and spending time at Twin Lakes. His mother, aunt, two uncles, and many cousins also attended Iowa.

“Iowa has had a profound impact on me as a person and as a professional,” said Snider. “I was born and raised in Detroit, but my mother and her side of my family come from north central Iowa, where I spent much of my time growing up with people I dearly love - all of whom attended the University of Iowa. Becoming a Hawkeye was a way to manifest my feelings about my family and childhood experiences. I matured into a young adult during my time at the university, gaining knowledge, an appetite for learning, and inspiration from classes and interactions with professors. I was lucky to be influenced by the staff and coaches in the athletic department, who shaped my values and worldview, as well as my approach to both work and life.”
