Using the fast-paced and visually engaging Pecha Kucha format, meaning “chit-chat” in Japanese, five student speakers will share their most meaningful “glocal” experiences in approximately six-minute presentations composed of 20 timed slides. Presenters will share personal stories and reflections about culture, curiosity, international education, and the lessons they have learned from studying, living, and connecting across cultures. A panel discussion and Q&A will follow the presentations.
Presenters include:
Sean Keene, a fourth-year student majoring in political science, journalism, and Spanish, who has studied in Spain, Chile, and Paris and interned in Rome.
Harry Siraj (BA political science ‘26), a first-year PhD student in the UI College of Law.
Nhelia Alemo, a third-year student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public affairs, whose experiences include the ICFRC internship program.
Andrés Restrepo-Sánchez, a PhD candidate in sociocultural anthropology whose research focuses on reproductive justice, obstetric violence, and birth reform in Medellín, Colombia.
Ellie Godsoe, a fourth-year student studying English & creative writing and screenwriting, with a minor in international studies, who has studied and interned abroad in Dublin, Ireland.
The event is free and open to the public.
