Heart to Heart: Young Voices on Compassion Reading

Join us as we witness the construction of a sacred sand mandala at the University of Iowa’s Levitt Gallery. Drupon Thinley Ningpo Rinpoche, a master in the art of constructing sand mandalas, will guide the construction process, generously sharing his extensive knowledge and answering questions about this ancient practice. Lama Kalsang and Virginia Blum will join Drupon in making the mandala.

We are thrilled to announce the “Heart to Heart: Young Voices on Compassion” project, which invites children and teens to share their thoughts on what compassion means to them.

The children’s writing will be displayed in September as part of the Mandala of Compassion event at the University of Iowa. The writings will be displayed at the University of Iowa’s Levitt Gallery from Tuesday – Friday, Sept. 5–8, 2023.

We will also offer an opportunity for the writers to read their work at the Levitt Gallery on Thursday evening, Sept. 7, 7–8 p.m.
