More than 70 UI students win merit scholarships to study abroad this summer and fall

For the summer and fall 2026 academic sessions, Study Abroad at the University of Iowa awarded more than 70 merit-based scholarships to undergraduate students participating in programs around the world. With support from alumni and donors, these awards help make study abroad more accessible and provide students with the opportunity to engage with new cultures, perspectives, and academic experiences outside the United States.

The scholarship, founded by UI alumnus Richard J. Tyner in 2017, assists students majoring in world languages, international relations, international studies, or political science as they pursue transformative international internships and coursework.
