International Programs is pleased to announce that Linda R. Baker, an Iowa graduate, educator, and philanthropist, has been named the winner of the 2023 International Impact Award, an award that honors exceptional individuals who have made sustained and deep contributions internationally or in the U.S. to promote global understanding.

Baker's strong personal commitment to efforts that foster cultural competency and global awareness, as well as her internationally oriented philanthropy, has paved the way for hundreds of students and faculty to study, teach, conduct research, and travel abroad for educational immersion experiences. Many of these life-changing experiences will be shared by our guests on WorldCanvass. Read more about Baker here.

We will also be honoring two current Iowa students who champion international education on campus or abroad. These Global Student Award recipients, Katherine Lyu and Amira Nash, will join us for WorldCanvass on November 2.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Amy Green in advance at amy-green-1@uiowa.edu or 319-335-1433.
