Delaney Nolan, a M.F.A. candidate in fiction writing at the UI, is the winner of a Fulbright Bulgaria-Greece Arts grant for 2016-17.

Amanda Kloser, a UI graduate with a M.A.T. in Secondary Education: English, is the winner of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant to Turkey for 2016-17.

Lauren Darby, a UI graduate with an M.A. in social studies education, is the winner of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant to Germany for 2016-17.

Abigail Grilli, a UI graduate with a B.A. in social studies education, is the winner of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant to Greece for 2016-17.

Addie Leak, a UI graduate with an M.F.A in literary translation, is the winner of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant to Jordan for 2016-17.

Noaquia Callahan, a Ph.D. candidate in history at the University of Iowa, is one of 13 Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant winners from the UI for 2016-17. Noaquia will undertake research on the development of interracial collaboration between African-American civil rights leader Mary Church Terrell and German women activists from 1888-1922 at the Free University of Berlin and the University of Heidelberg. As part of her community engagement, Noaquia will work with the German-American Fulbright Commission's Diversity Initiative to prepare Turkish, Afro-German, Muslim, and other students for study abroad in the U.S.

On March 31- April 1, 2016, the University of Iowa will host its second annual Fulbright Day to celebrate past UI Fulbright faculty and student awardees and to provide prospective students the opportunity to learn more about the Fulbright process. In the year of its 70th anniversary, the Fulbright Program has provided more than 360,000 participants—chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.

The Fulbright Lunch & Learn series continues with "Negotiating Cultural Boundaries: Teaching Clinical Medicine in Jordan." Featuring guest speaker Dr. George Bergus, professor in the department of Family Medicine at the UI, this event will take place on April 8 from 12:30-1:20 p.m. in 1117 UCC.

Ben Mauk is a 2012 graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop who earned a Fulbright Study/Research Grant to Germany. In this article, Mauk reflects upon on the work of fellow UI alum, Patrick Reed, who graduated with a Master in Fine Arts in papermaking and bookbinding from the UI Center for the Book in 2013 and also earned a Fulbright Research/Study Grant to Germany.

The University of Iowa is one of the top producers of Fulbright students for 2015-16, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education. The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program. Top-producing institutions are highlighted annually in The Chronicle of Higher Education. Twelve University of Iowa students were awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant to conduct research, attend graduate school, undertake creative projects, or serve as English teaching assistants abroad in the 2015–16 academic year. This is the greatest number of placements the UI has ever secured in a single calendar year, resulting in a tied ranking for 27th on a list of peer institutions.

Featuring guest speaker Adriana Méndez Rodenas, a professor in the department of Spanish and Portuguese at the UI, this event will take place on March 4 from 12:30-1:20 p.m. in 1117 UCC.
