Opening of the 2018-19 Fulbright U.S. Student Application Cycle

The U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, in cooperation with the Institute of International Education, are pleased to announce the launch of the 2018-2019 Fulbright U.S. Student Program application cycle. Since 1946, the Fulbright U.S. Student Program has provided future American leaders with an unparalleled opportunity to study, conduct research and serve as English teaching assistants abroad in order to build relations between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program awards over 1,900 grants annually and currently operates in more than 140 countries worldwide.

The University of Iowa has once again been named a top producer of Fulbright students for 2016-17, according to the list released Monday in The Chronicle of Higher Education. This is the second  year in a row that the University of Iowa has achieved this elite ranking.

Lauren Darby: Global Education

Lauren Darby (MAT ‘15, Social Studies Education) graduated in December 2015, after completing her student teaching in New Zealand as part of the Student Teaching Abroad Scholarship from the College of Education. For the 2016-2017 school year, Darby is overseas once again, this time to Wolfsburg, Germany, where she is teaching American language and culture in 5-12th grade English classes as part of the Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant program.
