Eight University of Iowa (UI) students have been awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to support study and internship experiences abroad in 2026.

Eleven University of Iowa students — all Iowa natives — have been selected from more than 10,000 applicants nationwide to receive Fulbright U.S. Student Program awards for the 2026–27 academic year.

Emma Anderson (BA international relations and political science ’25) has received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) award to Tajikistan for the 2026–27 academic year.

Kate Struble (BA journalism and mass communication, ethics and public policy ’22) has received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award (ETA) to Bulgaria for the 2026–27 academic year.

Lucia Rongerude (BA linguistics and Spanish ’26) is the recipient of a 2026–27 Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Award to Colombia.

Klaertje Hesselink (BS biochemical engineering ’26) has received a Fulbright Study/Research grant to Germany for the 2026–27 academic year.

Marta Leira (BS psychology ’25) has received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to Portugal for the 2026–27 academic year.

Gianna Rocca (BA English and creative writing, education ’25) is the recipient of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to South Korea for 2026–27.

Josie Mbaye (BA environmental science ’25; MAT science education ’26) was selected as a recipient of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to Taiwan for 2026–27. 

Tristen Wendling (BA German ’25) is the recipient of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to Germany for 2026–27.

University of Iowa student Olga Colmenero Carrillo (BA elementary education ’26) has received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to Spain for 2026–27.

University of Iowa alumna Katrina Wolfe (BA ethics and public policy ‘25) is the recipient of a Fulbright to North Macedonia for 2026-27.
