The International Programs (IP) grants office assists faculty and staff in the development of grant proposals for external funding in support of their research, teaching, and service goals—especially those related to the mission of International Programs.

At least two 2019-20 Fulbright Scholars returned home after the program asked them to evacuate amid the spread of the novel coronavirus. Both returned to the U.S. unemployed and uncertain about what the future holds for them.

The Japanese program at the University of Iowa will be seeing several improvements thanks to a $350,000 grant from the Japanese Foundation. Sawako Kojima of the Japanese Consulate in Chicago presented the award to UI Associate Provost and Dean Downing Thomas, who accepted the grant on behalf of the UI on Oct. 16.

It will not be pills or insulin that will cure these people, it is a strict lifestyle change to a proper diet. I plan on spreading this knowledge to as many people as I can in the hopes that they give themselves a chance at being healthy and happy individuals and getting their life back from the grips of diabetes.
