International Student Graduation Celebration

In recognition of the countless achievements of our international undergraduate and graduate students, and their accomplishments in reaching graduation, the spring 2024 University of Iowa (UI) International Student Graduation Celebration will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 3 to 5 p.m. (CDT), in the International Ballroom at the Iowa Memorial Union.

The ceremony will recognize international graduates from fall 2023, spring 2024, and summer 2024, with the conferral of affinity cords. Awards will be given to outstanding international graduates in the following categories: leadership; academic & scholarly achievement; engagement, advocacy & service; and the most unique curricular practical training.

A keynote address will be given by Dr. Ana Rodríguez-Rodríguez, associate professor and director of undergraduate studies in the UI Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Two international students will host the event: Nandita Nair, graduate student in mathematics, and Nico Sheck, graduate student in education.

The International Student Graduation Celebration is coordinated by a campus-wide planning committee consisting of students, faculty, staff, and administrators. This event is made possible through the generous support of International Programs and International Student Support and Engagement.
