Dr. Glenn Storey will talk about his virtual course and answer any questions students may have. Study Abroad will also be present to provide information about the application process and available scholarships.

The main focus of the course will be on the Greco-Roman/Medieval archaeological remains of the Abbey of Gangivecchio, which has been the focus of University of Iowa investigations since 2000. It will feature virtual visits (including ongoing excavations directed by Dr. Christie Vogler, Lynchburg University) at Gangivecchio. Students will see artifact analysis and curation at the local museum in Gangi, Sicily. Additionally, the course will include virtual visits to other famous archaeological sites in Sicily: Himera, Agrigento, Morgantina, Piazza Armerina, Selinunte, and Syracuse.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Ana Jimenez in advance at ana-jimenez@uiowa.edu or 319-335-0353.
