Dear Prospective Study Abroad Student,

I have always struggled with my identity. Who I am has been the locus of many insecurities. I have never felt like I fit in, even within my own family. If I were to give someone advice for studying abroad, especially someone who has similar identity struggles as me, it would be to go somewhere new. Go somewhere that none of your friends have gone, go somewhere that you are unfamiliar with so that you can go in with as blank of a slate as possible. Going somewhere unknown will allow you to see your own potential and strengths without the pressure or fear of making mistakes. I was tested, nervous, and scared at times because I wasn’t sure if I would be able to figure it out. But, I always did, and you will too. Sometimes you just have to hold your breath and take a leap of faith. I promise, it's worth it.
