Seven of this year’s participants in the IWP Fall Residency—from Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, and Japan—write, read, translate, edit, and publish within the Sinosphere, working with Chinese languages to varying degrees. The writers will be reading from their work in their original languages, with translations provided. For full bios of the writers and excerpts from their work, scan the QR code on the flyer. The event’s moderator, Jennifer Feeley, is the translator of Xi Xi’s Not Written Words and Carnival of Animals, and Chen Jiatong’s “White Fox” series for young readers. Her forthcoming translations include Xi Xi’s Mourning a Breast and My City, and Lau Yee-wa’s Tongueless. She was awarded the 2017 Lucien Stryk Prize and a 2019 NEA Translation Fellowship; she holds a PhD in East Asian Languages and Literatures from Yale University.
