Study Abroad awards listed below are available to eligible UI undergraduate students studying abroad during the summer or winter sessions, or selected short-term programs during a semester.

  UPDATE SUMMER 2020 Need-Based Grants - Virtual Internships/Programs

Award Range

$400 - $1,700 based on relative financial need (as shown on UI Award Letter) and cost of your program

NOTE: All Summer 2020 Study Abroad need-based awards were cancelled when program decisions were communicated. Therefore, all students who are now planning to participate in the virtual internship/program should complete the online application if they wish to be considered. The award amount may differ from the earlier notification.

General Criteria

  • Grants are awarded on the basis of relative need, based on Financial aid Award Summary information, and cost of the program
  • U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents (with completed FAFSA)
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at the University of Iowa and be in good academic standing
