2014 Global Health Studies conference

March 28-30, 2014

It has been claimed that war accounts for more death and disability than many major diseases combined (Levy and Sidel, 2008). World wars with millions of casualties are fading from global memory. New forms of armed conflict and civil war have steadily increased, disrupting fragile health infrastructures, and bringing death and injury to combatants and civilians alike. This conference will examine the many interfaces between violent conflict and health, including increased spread of infectious disease, exploitation of vulnerable populations, degradation of the global environment, and prevention of violence through health promotion.

This conference is sponsored by the Global Health Studies Programs, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and International Programs
