The Diversity Ambassador Scholarship program supports the diversification of students who study abroad by providing awards to students from diverse backgrounds and identities, many of whom are traditionally underrepresented on study abroad programs.

The University of Iowa is thrilled to announce that Jerry Anthony, an associate professor in school planning and public affairs, has been selected for a Fulbright Scholar Award in India for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Chosen from thousands of applicants from colleges and universities across the U.S., twelve University of Iowa undergraduates were awarded the competitive Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

The recipient of multiple student funding research awards while at Iowa, Briana Smith attributes many of her successes to her time at Iowa and the support she received from faculty and staff mentors.

“It was a very emotional moment for me because up until then I didn’t realize how much I actually missed hearing my name correctly. From that moment, I knew I should make an effort to introduce my identity and culture properly.”

24 hours. That’s how fast Daniel Lowe’s life changed in March 2020. Lowe, a graduate of Lancaster University in Lancaster, United Kingdom, who studied abroad at the University of Iowa during the 2019-2020 academic year, found his time at Iowa cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2nd Annual International Student Affinity Graduation ceremony will be held in person for the first time on Thursday, May 12, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
